Aus pay- wird freeware: die beiden Plugins von 'de la Mancha', Jellyfish & Metamorph, sind ab sofort Freeware:
"jellyfish is a 4 oscillator synth with multiple modulation methods between the oscillators. metamorph is a quirky waveform-morphing synth. Both bring plenty of movement and modulation and come with a range of presets."
Beide - leider - nur für Windows: aber als ich noch vornehmlich unter Windows produziert hatte, empfand' ich viele der früheren 'de la Mancha'-Plugins als sehr nützliche Werkzeuge mit gutem, recht eigenständigem Sound. njoy!

@moody: klasse, danke, da waren immer einige gems dabei, muss hier auch mal einen beitrag der letzten jahre suchen, ein midi-effekt-arp-plugin für osx, das wunderbare stotter-effekte und anderes wirres zeuchs auf knopfdruck auf midi-spuren legte, das ding brauche ich definitiv wieder.

Für Windows & osX, nun Freeware für alle:
Podolski is a simple, CPU-efficient virtual analogue synthesizer. Basically a cut down version of FilterscapeVA with just one oscillator, one filter, one envelope and two LFOs, it also features a Zebra-style arpeggiator/sequencer plus chorus and delay effects.
Podolski's specialities are the Click parameter (emphasizes the filter attack) and its ability to seamlessly morph between three waveforms (WaveWarp).
Version 1.0 was released as a free gift for visitors to the u-he booth during Musikmesse 2005. Right after Musikmesse it went on the cover mount CD of the German KEYBOARDS magazine (later Sound & Recording). Podolski was u-he's first 'magware' offering, and was distributed with every issue until about 2009.
Podolski has been refurbished with some new presets by Howard Scarr, has undergone a GUI makeover (two new skins) and supports a wider range of plug-in formats. A new English language manual is also included.

Habe gestern erst wieder den kostenlosen Minimoog V von Arturia für eine Melo eingebaut und hatte Gänsehaut. Das Plug-In holt wirklich einen fetten geilen Sound aus den digitalen Bits raus ... meine Herren.
"Viel hilft viel" gilt nicht für den Musikbereich finde ich. Es gibt einfach Plug-Ins die einfach die Qualität haben, dauerhaft genutzt zu werden.
Ein Musiker der 80er oder 90er hatte auch nur begrenzt Synthies zur Verfügung und hat sich an dene bedient. Eine kleine Eingrenzung hilft manchmal.

Charlatan is a polyphonic, subtractive virtual analog (VA) synthesizer plugin with design focus on sound quality and easy usability. Ab sofort sind alle bisherigen UGO-Plugins Freeware, leider nur für Windows und klassisch 32bit - aber 'von früher' weiss ich, dass das durchaus sehr, sehr schöne Instrumente bzw. Plugins sind, die sich vom klassischen synthedit-Einheitsbrei oft gut abheben konnten:

IVOR2 - a free microtonal synthesizer instrument for Windows.
Für mich als mac'ianer leider ungeeignet, aber das Plugin ist sehr ausführlich beschrieben, bietet viele Modulationsmöglichkeiten und hat einen Sound, der sich vom klassischen Brot&Butter-Sound stark abhebt und wohl für Atmos / Pads mehr als prädestiniert zu sein scheint.

Full Bucket Music has introduced FB-3100, a freeware synthesizer VST plugin for Windows which emulates the KORG PS-3100 hardware analog synthesizer from 1977.

The user interface is almost an identical copy of PS-3100’s front panel, including the micro-tuning controls on the left and the modulation patch bay on the right. The patch bay is a joy to use, partly thanks to the modulation monitor display which shows the active modulation source and destination. The preset manager and MIDI learn controls are positioned below the main panel, along with the release envelope knob and the external input dial. The sound quality is quite good, with an interesting sounding filter and a lovely analog-like chorus. The filter doesn’t scream like Korg’s MS-20 filter, but instead reminds me of older Yamaha and even Roland filters.
The instrument is coded in C++ and optimized for low CPU consumption, something that we’re pretty much used to seeing in Full Bucket Music plugins. The CPU hit is indeed very low, staying below 8% (on our test machine, at least) even when playing 10 and more notes simultaneously. The current version of FB-3100 comes with 64 factory patches, one of which is an INIT patch. Most of the included presets sound quite nice, with a few truly exceptional ones, such as the Classic Rezo Bass patch. Being that FB-3100’s user interface might be somewhat too advanced for beginners, it would be great see more factory patches added in the future.
I haven’t run into any stability or performance issues while testing FB-3100, except for subtle crackling noise while modulating the oscillator volume with the mouse wheel. It’s a very minor issue, though, that will hopefully be fixed in a future update. The instrument is only compatible with Windows-based digital audio workstations at the moment, although both 32-bit and 64-bit hosts are supported.

Kleine, schlanke und - wie ich finde - nützliche 303-Synth-Emulation ohne integrierten Sequenzer für Kostnix in Version 2 für Windows & Mac/OSX: YOOZ BL-303 V.2, ursprünglich für die KVR Developer Challenge 2016 entwickelt. Hat auch einen etwas anderen Sound als so manch anderer 303-Klon, soll vermutlich auch Lust auf die Payware wie den Yooz Modular machen, der schon ganz gut klingt, aber mit 137 US$ schon recht happig ist, zumal Reaktor-Nutzer für kostnix noch deutlich komplexere Modular-Ensembles bekommen, die mindestens genauso gut klingen *g*

den FB-3100 hab ich mir auch mal gezogen. wirklich gut klingendes teil ! hab ich direkt mal eingesetzt und bin total zufrieden mit dem ergebnis... eine line wie ich sie selten hatte und vom sound her echt konkurenzfähig. zu hören gibts das wohl auch irgendwann... wo ist aber noch nicht klar

Eine Art 303 Synthesizer für kleines Geld. 18.90 €
Ich bin überrascht, wie gut er klingt.
Allerdings hatte ich kleine Probleme bei der Installation mit dem Virenscanner.
Die typischen Acidsounds bekommt man eher nicht hin aber im unteren Berreich hat der echt was drauf.
