Dominik Eulberg (Traum Schallplatten) @ Pure Room, Jaarbeurs - Utrecht (07.12.2013) Attempted by so many people vainly, Dominik Eulberg is the one who can claim for himself having reconciled ornithology and techno successfully. Dominik Eulberg, raving ornithologist from the Westerwald is both: an international booked DJ in spotlight and an observer of the domestic Flora and Fauna in quiescence – a master of reconciled contradictions.
Since he released his first disc in 2003 on Traum Schallplatten, the superior producer disperses ecological expertise and the sound of chirping birds in his tracks. He uses nature as a contentual and dramaturgical source of inspiration for his productions since 1993.
A walk in the woods – this is Dominik´s Blueprint for exciting music, because "there you never know what is expecting you behind the next junction". In the forest some rustle in the coppice can turn into a hookline: every single sound is important and endows the tracks with the necessary vitality the dancefloor needs. If minimum or maximum: Not giving a damn, the audience loves extraordinary character as much as a great Basedrum. Combining both, Dominik isn´t held in high esteem - which he usually savours in more blinkered clubs all around the world – wrongly.
"More flesh to the bones", this is his motto. In times of skeletonized diet-techno this is an indispensable estimation more than ever. This is one of the reasons why the DJ, producer and remixer did more than just establishing reputation. Since many years he masters the situationally rocking on 12”-format just as the full-length of an album.
In 2007 Dominik was awarded the "Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik" for his second album "Heimische Gefilde", with which he achieved a lot for the generation-spanning acceptation of techno. It was released on Traum Schallplatten, which is run by its most important patrons Jacqueline and Riley Reinhold. He repeatedly obtained front positions at readers polls of the magazines groove, Raveline and De:Bug. He was even voted for Newcomer and Producer of the year. Also his creations as DJ and his Remixes for various artists such as Hot Chip, DJ Hell, Tiefschwarz, Nathan Fake or Roman Flügel were awarded several times.
He will continue to indulge his affectation for more emotionality in the beat-corset in future. The creativity of his musically work will stay complex and innovative, but remains always accessible due to the inherent down-to-earthness. After all one wants to take his audience on a journey, not wanting to ditch it at the ticket counter.

Submerse Set ist besser als das von Four Tet, da fetzten nur die letzten 15 minuten oder so hehe
Mark Pritchard (Warp Records) @ Werribee Park - Melbourne (01.01.2014) There are few producers who can rightfully lay claim to having impacted the electronic and dance music scenes across decades. Mark Pritchard is one of those few. From jungle to ambient, techno to hip hop his musical appetite and talent led to acclaimed releases on respected labels such as his own Evolution, LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records, Kode9's Hyperdub and, of course, Warp Records. Infamously most of this work was released not just across labels but also aliases, both solo and in collaboration, leaving only the most dedicated of preinternet music trainspotters able to complete the puzzle.
That was then. The now is what matters, and Mark knows it. Using his experience he has continuously pushed ahead and kept himself relevant amid a musical landscape that is by its own nature ever changing, increasingly so in recent times. His latest releases for Warp saw him deliver cutting edge dance music and hip hop with the Africa Hitech and Harmonic 313 albums, proving that he could just as easily talk to the new kids from LA's beat scene or Chicago's footwork gangs as he could with the likes of contemporaries such as Goldie or Mala.
Grandiose claims aside, even a cursory glance at the discography or listen to the music will let it speak for itself. And that's before you get into the details, versatility or impact his work has had in just the last few years, leading the likes of Radiohead and Massive Attack to call on Mark for remixes.
Never one to rest on his laurels, Mark Pritchard is moving forward in the only way he knows how: making music that is varied and vital, incorporating elements of the now with the savoirfaire of his track record and a love of electronic music's extensive palette. Starting in June 2013, this new work will unfold across a series of EPs leading to a new album on Warp Records. He is also finally ending the game once and for all by consolidating all the work under one name: his own.
It all starts with the Ghosts EP, four tracks that reach across the decades for timeless dance floor appeal, to be followed by two more dance minded EPs before the first full length under his real name. The album promises to be more expansive, further showcasing Mark's versatility and broad interest. So consider the new releases not so much a taste of things to come as a renewed statement of intent from one of modern electronic music's great producers. Or to borrow a lyric from Spikey T off the Ghosts EP: 'Manabadman, badman from time'.

Phon.o -Live- (Shitkatapult, 50 Weapons) @ 50 Weapons Showcase - Kurv Launch Event, Egg - London (31.01.2014) The boy with the dot in his name and the dubby background, started to play records with his buddy Apparat in the early 90s far in the darkest reaches of the ruff'n'tuff Harz mountains, in former East Germany. This little country bumpkin practiced dilingently every night by candlelight at his aunt's farm. 1994, Phon.o cites the hay in the barn, the dirt in the fields and the sheep form calling him from beyond the hills as strong early influences of his deep and dirty style. In these times he got his first turntables and used every free hour to practise in his hidden secret cottage. 1997, seeking new and bright horizons, our boy moves to beautiful Berlin and is given the keys to his first apartment: a dingy shoebox which even the Russians had left unoccupied during their stint in Berlin.
During the wet autum of 1998 he started to create his own "music" and emerged in the spring of 2000 with his first release, on Cytrax (Kit Clayton and Dj Jasper's itchy, noisy, dubby Californian techno label). The gringos take a liking to their newly-found bro and like the productive little worker that he is, Phon.o cranks out with another ep and a full lenght CD on Cytrax. The big city often leads to encounters with all kinds of shady characters... Phon.o then found himself misled, used and abused by the notorious big rock'n roll swindler, T.raumschmiere, who connives him into joining his gang Shitkatapult. The whirlwind of confusion reigning in both Phon.o's heart as well as the world around us all seems to have taken its toll on him, these days you'll find him ragged and disillusioned and his music increasingly processed and schizophrenic, injected with shards of vocal samples and obscure sounds taken from hip hop, dub, baltimore, house, dubstep and techno. For his live and DJ-sets, he manages to harness whatever stately ideals he can recall and delivers a staunchly digital and itchy, yet deeply moving and progressive set. Phon.o deals fire and burns down the town around the world – Europe, Asia, America – back and forth. Fire does take its toll on those who wield it and Phon.o eventually realized the need for an image change. He enrolled in the Kunsthochschule Berlin (KHB) in the fall of 2000 and began studying Communication design. He did cooperations in video and graphics with the swiss artist Noica Llanos and buddy Immo König and soundinstallations with the icelandic girl Sara Riel. Despite these laudible attempts at being a productive member of society, only a few were fooled. His relapse became evident in 2005 as he appeared under a totally brand new western guise, The Bareback Show, a collaborative project with Exsample: 2 djs, 4 decks, locked groove records only. Phon.o produced two 100-locked grooves EPs for Compact the locked groove series which is released on the sweet label Normoton. He releases his new, dirty full length masterpiece - which goes from eurocrunk over techno to booty hiphop and dancehall-grime - Burn Down The Town on Shitkatapult and Tigerbeat6 in the end of the warm rainy august 2005 - two weeks after the booty maxi Trick or Treat which includes two superb and bouncy remixes by his buddies Funkstörung and Kit Clayton. Chris De Luca and Phon.o joined forces in spring 2006. Since then, they’ve been rocking clubs and festivals all over Europe with their ass-kicking sets as CLP. This unconventional combination of intergalactic hip hop, ghetto beats, sexy booty IDM and dirty techno goes beyond typical contemporary genre boundaries. In 2008 the results of CLPs dirty collabo got released as the EP Ready Or Not on Boysnoize Rec. including remixes by Diplo and Mixhell and as an eclectic, genre blending Hip Hop album called Supercontinental on Shitkatapult. In 2009 the boys did not take a rest while worldwide touring and kept on releasing. They came up with their heavy EP Homecourt / Dip Shorty on Shitkatapult, the remix EP Strictly Confidential on Sugarcane Rec, a bunch of remixes and collabos with on the edge music software companies Ableton and Native Instruments.
With the beginning of the new decade Phon.o got back on his traack and start working on new songs and put his hands on remixes for Modeselektor, Boys Noize, Schlachthofbronx, Juli, Leg-No&Emma and Robot Koch. He also became a resident DJ for Berlins best Club - the WMF. In 2011 Phon.o comes up with new releases on Modeselektor's label 50WEAPONS/Monkeytown. So... the shit goes on…the downward spiral continues...

DJ Rashad (Juke Trax, Planet Mu, Teklife, Hyperdub Recordings) @ Cakeshop - Seoul, Korea (29.01.2014) Though simmering for years in the stew of Chicago’s nascent footwork and juke scene, the sound of Rashad’s frenetic 808 programming and deftly sliced r&b loops has turned into an epidemic in recent years, informing the trajectory of club music the world over. DJ Rashad’s skills behind the turntables, honed from years playing after-school footwork battles, provides the perfect soundtrack for adrenaline-fueled, 160 BPM dance mayhem, the one and only Chicago juke pioneer DJ Rashad checks up on the South Korean footwork routines, BOOOOM!

Four Tet aka Kieran Hebden (Text Records) @ Mixup Exclusive, Triple J (07.02.2014) Kieran Hebden’s game is virtuosity. Over the course of his career, the Elliott School alumn has acquired one of the most recognizable voices in electronic music with his organic textures and long-winding arrangements. After delving into the art of post-rock with his band Fridge in the 1990s, Hebden began releasing material as Four Tet on Trevor Jackson’s Output Recordings later that decade. In spite of founding his own label Text Records in 2001, he continued to put out a string of long- and extended play releases on Domino, which saw Four Tet’s sound evolve from a glitchy, folktronic approach to instrumental hip hop to animate tech and microhouse. 2012 was a particularly productive year for Hebden, as he dropped a number of well-received singles, his Pink compilation, as well as collaborations with Burial and Jamie xx.
Four Tet has shared another hour-long mix on triple j, and it features all unreleased material. It includes a collaboration with Burial, an edit of a Mariah Carey song by Martyn, a refix of an Ellie Goulding track, music by Nathan Fake, and more
☆ ☆ ☆ T R A C K L I S T I N G ☆ ☆ ☆ ... There's not a detailed tracklisting, but check out Kieran Hebden's handwritten note about the mix besides ...

Shigeto -Live- (Ghostly International) @ Beatport Headquarters - Berlin (07.02.2014) Shigeto also means ‘to grow bigger’, which easily applies to both, Zach’s journey in the world of beats and electronic music so far, and, on a more aesthetic level, to his multi-layered, rhythmically fractured sound design. Heavily influenced by his father’s Motown and be-bop collection, Shigeto went on to study jazz in New York and London, where he acquired technical skills he would soon meld with his interest for electronics, IDM and hip hop into silky yet haunting beat sculptures. While most of his early productions found a home on Moodgadget, Shigeto has entertained a highly prolific relationship with Ghostly International since his acclaimed Semi Circle EP in 2010.
313 grittiness in disguise: Ghostly International’s Shigeto takes his silky yet haunting beats live to Beatport`s Headquarters in Berlin!

Murdock (Radar Records) @ Crissy Criss D&B M1X Radio Show, BBC 1Xtra (19.02.2014) His name comes from the A-Team's wacko but being the entrepreneur he is, Hans Machiels should've named himself "Murdoch", after the Australian media mogul Rupert Murdoch. Since James Brown is dead, Antwerp based dj, label boss and party promoter Murdock can easily apply for the title of hardest working man in showbizz. His dj activities ask for a 5-day weekend and his parties attract more people than the venues in Antwerp, Genk and Hasselt can hold.

Borgore (Buygore Records) @ Mixmag Magazine DJ Lab Office - London (28.02.2014) Mixmag welcome one of the biggest artists to have emerged from the US dubstep explosion, Borgore.
After studying at a renowned music school, Borgore went on to become a drummer in deathcore band Shabira before trying his hand at DJing after being exposed to the UK dubstep sound at a show headlined by the likes of Skream, Benga and Coki.
Since then Borgore has gone on to well and truly take the sound and make it his own. Creating a new genre in its own right, it's seen him marry his deathcore roots with dubstep. He’s released on the likes of Spinnin' Records, Dim Mak and his own imprint Buygore, catapulting him to the top of the dance music tree where he regularly shares bills with the likes of Skrillex, Calvin Harris and Rusko.
