Make no mistake about it, the UK's DJ Sasha (real name: Alexander Coe) is the biggest star in a land where club DJs are often pop stars in their own right. Now this is pretty interesting. While the BB got their start with Futurebound’s Viper Recordings in 2006, with their first single being the eighth release on the imprint, they actually signed exclusively to DJ Fresh‘s Breakbeat Kaos in 2007. They were faithful to the imprint for the last six years, releasing their critically-acclaimed, self-titled debut album with BBK In 2011, and putting out singles as recently as the end of 2012 with the imprint. New year, new contract it seems, as Viper recently announced that the Brookes Brothers have signed an exclusive deal with them, and will be kicking this union off with the huge “Carry Me On.”
Zane Lowe‘s already thrown this into his “hottest record in the world” bin, and it makes sense. The duo has perfected their huge sound, bringing the emotion of Chrom3′s vocals to new heights on this massive drum & bass beast.

James Holden has released hardly any music of his own since his first album, 2006's The Idiots Are Winning, but he hasn't been a wallflower either. Besides continuing to pluck new talent for his label, Border Community-which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year—he released one of the more deranged editions in the DJ-Kicks series with his 2010 entry of sun-blazed krautrock and pastoral electronica. But still, 7 years since his last major body of work, it's safe to say that ears pricked up earlier this spring when word that emerged that he had a new album in the works.
All of these tracks eventually build toward the cathartic galaxy sprawl of "Blackpool Late Eighties." It sounds most like what fans of "A Break in the Clouds" might have thought Holden would sound like come 2013. It's peaceful and distantly serene, but with flickers of dissonance rubbing away at the edges.

An unfortunate subject of the ‘Female DJ’ debate, Kraviz is an interesting character in relation to feminism. Known to address the issue herself, she constantly underlines the unprocessed nature of her expressions of femininity and simultaneous reluctance to ‘butch up’ in a continually male-driven profession – ideas synonymous with third-wave feminist arguments endorsing choice and highlighting, amongst other things, that you don’t have to be ‘unfeminine’ to rely on principle notions of gender equality. These same ideas come into contention with issues such as cosmetic surgery, promiscuity and, say, doing interviews in bathtubs.

After the success of 'A Is For Acid' Perc Trax Ltd continues with first ever collaboration between the London brutalist dream team of label boss Perc and regular Perc Trax artist Truss (R&S, Avian, OCS) for an EP of no-bullshit, hardware based techno.
3-tracks, each recorded fully live in one-take. No second attempts, no re-edits and no processing of the tracks after they were recorded. Add mastering by Matt Colton and you have one of the rawest techno EPs in recent memory.
