2012-10-25 - dBridge (Exit Records) @ Delicatessen Promotion DJ-Mix October 2012 The ever-changing creative hub that is dBridge, is an artist whose multiple transformations and evolutions glide through a staggering list of achievements. In the scope of White’s jam-packed, many-faced 19 year career, no one year could be comparable nor slowed down.
“You have to be able to find your own voice. There’s nothing necessarily new within dance music as such, it’s each person’s interpretation of it. At the end of the day, within D&B we’re all pretty much around the same tempo, but there are little nuances and slight differences that will make you stand out from everyone else.”

Michael Mayer (Kompakt) @ Heidi`s Residency Radio Show, BBC Radio 1 (26.10.2012) Finally, Kompakt sees the long-awaited release of Michael's sophomore album Mantasy, a long-awaited, indispensable update of Michael Mayer’s production sound and an essential release for the label: "It's my second solo album, but for me it’s really the first one”, says Michael, and indeed the masterful sequencing and high production value bear witness to an artist in full control of his medium. The album’s title refers to the escapist momentum of a cinematic journey into the unknown, a tribute to history’s great explorers, „to characters obsessed with an idea, to totally wrong conceptions of the world and faulty sea charts, to inconceivable exertions, all that lunacy“, but also an intimate trip to the core of the Kompakt sound itself, whose main ambassador has always been Michael Mayer.
Heidi has a guest mix from Kompact record boss and pioneer Michael Mayer.
Tracklisting: Morning Factor - Anna Logue's Sleepover Sei A - You Can Bring (Axel Boman Remix) Herbert - It's Only (DJ Koze Remix) Michael Mayer - Roses Portable - A Process (Flutramental Version) (feat. Lcio) WhoMadeWho - Running Man (Martin Dawson & Catz 'N Dogz Remix) Tomas Barfod - Dsoy

Amsterdam Dance Event 2012 - 01 - Michael Mayer (Kompakt) @ Melkweg - Amsterdam (17.10.2012) Born and raised in the Black Forest area of southwestern Germany, Michael Mayer had his first encounter with music via his mother’s kitchen radio from day one. The obligatory classic musical education (piano, clarinet, saxophone, school choir et al) was followed by the dream to become a DJ, and the purchase of his first mixer and a turntable (age: 14). A long-lasting odyssey later, Mayer arrived in Cologne, got involved with Delirium Records (soon to be the Kompakt store), teamed up with Tobias Thomas as Friends Xperiment, started playing at parties in Colgone and Berlin.
There’s no stopping the magic of the four-by-four bass drum: Kompakt king Michael Mayer live in the mix at Amsterdam’s Melkweg.

Amsterdam Dance Event 2012 - 02 - Kölsch -Live- (Kompakt, FM X) @ Melkweg - Amsterdam (17.10.2012) Whether it is as Rune RK, Kölsch, ENUR or one half of Artificial Funk, Rune Reilly Kölsch likes to keep busy both as a DJ and as a producer. Artificial Funk signed to Skint in 2002, yet it was as Rune RK that he produced his first big hit – 2003’s Calabria. Its saxophone riff swiftly made an impression on dance floors – and refused to leave them in the years to come. During the time that Calabria was tirelessly making the rounds, Kölsch started the willfully obscure label Tattoorecs with Johannes Torpe, his brother and partner in Artificial Funk, to explore the Detroit / Chicago legacy under the Ink & Needle moniker. And while he likes to feature guest stars from Kelly Rowland to Nicki Minaj (he started out as a Danish b-boy, after all), he also signed to Kompakt as Kölsch, where he has found a home for his most fundamental club tracks.
Kompakt’s great Dane takes no prisoners with one of his ethereal live sets at Melkweg in Amsterdam.

Marcus Intalex featuring MC Strategy & DRS (Soul:ution Radio) @ La Boum de Luxe, FM4 Radio (09.11.2012) Forward thinking, energetic, soulful, and heavy on the groove – that’s how Marcus Intalex likes it. A drum ‘n’ bass DJ with eighteen years of mileage on his clock, he cut his first track in 1994 and hasn’t looked back. Based just down the road from Manchester in sunny Burnley, he was bang in position to dive headfirst into the early 90s dance culture still chaining itself to the doors of the feted (but fated) ‘Hacienda’ nightclub. A lover of Chicago house and Detroit techno, his flavourful and groovesome drum ‘n’ bass relates directly to those forms and is often picked up on by strictly 4/4 heads. Part of the production duo MIST with ST Files, the Tubbs to his Crockett, he’s racked up plenty of underground hits on his two record labels, Soul:R and Intalex Productions. Artist albums, compilations, collaborations, 12"s, UK clubnights, remixes and tours all over the world; it’s all just business as usual for Marcus.
Strategy (Of Broke N £nglish) also switches up his style to deliver a new unforgettable flow which grabs your attention from the very start.
The long awaited MC DRS album for Soul:r has been released on 28.08.2012. "I don't usually like MCs, but..." has been produced by Dub Phizix and will be mostly dnb tracks feat. collabs with: Marcus Intalex, Calibre, dBridge, S.P.Y, Lynx, Lenzman, Enei, Fox, Riya, Jehst, Pete Simpson, Strategy, Skittles and Genotype. MC DRS has been busy in 2012 with high profile releases on Metalheadz and Critical as well as being busy on the road as Toddla T's MC, and alongside top D'n'B and Dubstep DJ's like Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Breakage and Artwork regularly. These duties have see contantly traversing the UK and Europe hosting large events including many of the big Festivals this summer. DRS is no stranger to live act performances having been a member of Hip Hop band Broke'n'English for some time and since this year also playing a vital part in the Toddla T Sound showcases. One of the hardest working, and most talented MC's working today, this album and it's showcase promise to be the full reallisation of his diverse and deep talent.

Enei (Critical Music - St. Petersburg) @ DJ Friction Radio Show, BBC Radio 1 (18.11.2012) This week Russian producer de jour, Enei, drops his debut album on the ever present and ever growing powerhouse of drum and bass that is Critical Music. Entitled Machines, it has been tipped as one of the most highly anticipated albums of the year by numerous scene folk. A bold statement when you consider sheer number of artist albums that have dropped at around the same time and space as this. Calyx and Teebee, SPY, BSE and even going back a bit to DRS and Spectrasoul earlier in the year, it's a realm of stiff competition to say the least. But since winning best newcomer at last year's drum and bass awards, there has been something of a buzz about anything to come from Alexey Egorchenkov. If nothing more, it raises the level of expectation for what must be a pretty nerve wracking time, your first album. Can he deliver?
Well it depends on what you're expecting really. Enei clearly has a penchant for tunes with widespread dance floor appeal and if you're expecting a lot more of that which we have already become familiar with in his productions, then you will unlikely be disappointed. I approached this album with the mentality of it just kind of giving me the opportunity to hear more of Enei's output. I wasn't expecting it to be a rich tapestry of all of drum and bass' styles and sub genres and I suspect that it is no coincidence either. It has derived from my past experience of his music. There is a good deal of kick snare dance floor bangers making up the 11 tracks on the LP and even more when you take the digital bonus tunes into account. The lead track 'Machines' sets the precedent with its round, bouncy, but yet overarching dark aesthetic and the likes of '2012', 'The Moment' and 'Thin Line' all follow suit. Despite this stylistic trait making up the bread and butter of this album, there is some diversity to be found in the vocals and breaks driven edits of 'Saligia' feat Kemo and 'Runnin' feat Georgia Yates. Unsurprisingly, in the early stages of acquainting oneself with an album it's the most extrovert tunes that make the biggest impression on Machines. 'Centrifuge' with razored half step break down and sonically perfected fx really makes it mark on the listener as does the exemplary June Miller remix of previous Critical outing 'Movin Fast'. These tunes are probably the highlights for me and again it's mainly a product of my expectations but aside from those, I genuinely believe that this is where Enei's strengths lie. Whether that's a sustainable creative model is probably subject to some debate.

George Fitzgerald (Man Make Music, Hotflush Recordings) @ Beatport Headquarters Berlin (28.11.2012) George FitzGerald has been making a name for himself as a top DJ and producer in the underground scene for while now. Slotting somewhere in between bass and deep house, FitzGerald has released on Hotflush, Aus, and his own imprint, ManMakeMusic. With his remixes for Jessie Ware and his own huge single “Child,” we’re surely in for a treat when FitzGerald arrives.
