"With the explosion of popularity dance music has enjoyed over the past five years, the number of mainstream artists incorporating the electronic genres into their own music has become increasingly commonplace. But in the race to cash in on our scene while it's hot, some artists have become downright lazy, passing off the work of others as their own and bringing in what we guess are some pretty healthy profits in the process.
Rip offs in the music industry are certainly nothing new, but with recent accusations of plagiarism flying from Mad Decent's Diplo and Dillon Francis against Flo Rida and Katy Perry, we here at Mixmag got inspired to take a look at some of dance music's most shameful, blatant thefts. So behold, ten big dance music rip offs."
(...) Felix Da Housecat 'Jack U' outtakes and DJ Hell 'The DJ' What DJ Hell found out (and the rest of Twitter) in this case was what exactly it means to unleash the wrath of Chicago DJ/producer Felix Da Housecat. In 2009, DJ Hell released 'The DJ' featuring P Diddy. Felix Da Housecat then embarked on a Twitter tirade, asserting that the vocals used in 'The DJ' were taken from a recording session he did with Diddy in 2003, which he owned the rights to.
He tweeted: "DJ Hell why do u keep on Stealin’ my $h*t releasing it with No permission? Im gonna have 2 expose you! your a DICK!" (...)
