After a month off spent blood doping and ingesting powdered tiger fang, WU is ready for 2013.
DJs
Andy Blake Joe Hart
11-6am
Brixton HQ
£5 members -£8 before 1am -£10 after
Not a lot's changed...
Same smoke, sweat, light and same peculiar dance classics...
After 3 years we've put the price up by £1 before 1am and it's £10 after, seeing as though it's hard to get in after 1 anyway it shouldn't affect any of you regulars. Over the next few months the extra income will be spent on improving the quality of the WU experience. This month you can expect far better security and the toilet that's been out of action for the last few months finally getting fixed. after that who knows? coathangers in the cloakroom? A locking curtain on the men's toilet? Sky's the limit.
The venue is easy by tube (Brixton), train (Loughborough Junction) and bus (35/N35) which runs 24 hours and stops outside.

With our HQ taken away by dark forces, we've been trawling the city looking for a new base. For this party we're at the place that was going to be the original home for WU when it began 3.5 years ago.
The rest you already know.
DJs Andy Blake Joe Hart
11pm-6am
£5 members £8 first 100 £10 the rest
The venue is slightly East and very easy to get to. It's brilliant, an underground labyrinth straight outta Victorian London.

Von der Facebook-Seite:
i've been meaning to post this for ages. genuinely one of the funniest things i've ever read.
all you 'it's 2013 you old fart, i'm far too busy being a fully functioning multi-media node to read anything longer than a tweet' types may as well move on now cos this goes on a bit but if you like a laugh you'll do well to make the time for this.
if you're having trouble thinking of where to schedule it, think of it as a decent skivey bog read.
and so we begin....
back in jan this email was sent to the wu address
> Sir / Madam, > > We have heard that you organize shows in Europe, so we have permitted > ourselves > to contact you. > We are now working with well-known/ successful American rap artists. > ONYX (founder of the company), Styles P, M.O.P, Method Man & Redman, > Lords Of The Underground, Raekwon of Wu-Tang, Celph Titled, Curtis > Young aka Hood Surgeon (Dr Dre's son) and many more (please check out > our websitehttp://onyxbookings.com/ for the full list) > The legendary rap group ONYX has been touring Europe a countless > amount of times. > Drawing huge crowds of over +50,000 people, they are one of the most > popular rap band over there. > You can watch our live shows on Youtube to see what you can expect > from them and the rest of the artists. > As we are preparing for new tours in Russia/Ukraine/Europe, we are > looking on adding new date(s) or even planning (many/a new) tour(s) > together. > And we would be glad to work with a booking agency such as yours. > We work with a good amount of artists, so let us know which artist > you would like to book. > Thank you for your time! > Best regards, > Clement Kuefouet
so far, so spammy. all fairly standard stuff.
until someone who runs wu and isn't me sends this reply.
Hi Clement,
Thanks for your email, it was very good timing as we're planning our 2013 shows.
We would love to book ONYX for a show. Their live performances look fantastic, can we ask that they do a few cover versions of well known hip hop tracks such as WU-Tang's 'Shame on a nigga' and Jurassic 5's 'Concrete Schoolyard'? In fact a complete covers set will be great.
It would be an exclusive and intimate gig, we get around 250 people at our parties each paying £5 giving a total of £1250 and would like to propose a fee of £1000. We cannot pay the full £1250 as we need to cover our own costs such as posters, fizzy water, smoke for the smoke machine and electricity for the meter.
Accommodation-wise ONYX can stay at my apartment, how many are there in the band? I have a spare room with a UK size single bed (approx 75cm wide) with a pull out bed beneath. This set up is optimised for 2 people (who are friends but not in a relationship) ALTHOUGH I have personally seen 4 people use it without serious discomfort.
Security at the venue is second to none, head of security is a former Jamaican special forces operative. His deputy runs the patty shop opposite but comes over when he finishes there.
There is space for a merchandise stall, an ideal location would be the room at the rear of the ground floor where there is even a small room with a curtain, ideal for trying on t-shirts. XL or XXL? They'll be able to tell there and then.
We will provide DJs before and after ONYX's performance. Our young DJ, who we book to ensure a good turn out of women, plays uplifting funky house. Our older DJ always plays the same set which is loved by all in London, particularly young men in their early 20's, a gang of whom follow him around like misguided disciples. This is great for ONYX as he will be able to get them excited about the band.
I hope you find this proposal workable, we have no experience of doing anything like this but ONYX will be a great learning curve. Please let me know if ONYX are happy with the fee the we can set a date so ONYX can set about buying themselves their flights to the UK.
All the best
Trevor Whopper Chief Event Organiser
p.s -Are ONYX from the projects? What do they eat? Are you concerned they may experience a 'culture shock' in London? We do not want a scenario where they're unable to perform due to culture shock.

MIDSUMMER WU VENUE ANNOUNCED.
it's a really nice warehouse right in the heart of peckham. this one has never been used for a party before and is spot-on for the last of the roaming wu's before we head back underground to our new secure bunker from july.
it's dead secure with no fear of invasion from curmudgeonly rapscallions and a 5 minute walk from peckham rye station and 24 hour buses,
we've had a full 6am+ license granted,
we'll have a stonking great rig from steve and paul at wattco,
richard, patrick and the boys looking after security so you no you're in safe hands with no annoying torch on the dancefloor nonsense,
all drinks will be 3 for £10 or less,
there will be plenty of decent toilets,
max morris and amy will be looking after the lights,
and there will be plenty of disco smoke inna de area.
so, get your skates on and sort your tickets out before it's too late. if by any chance there is some spare capacity left on the night it'll cost more and you'll likely have to queue for ages so don't leave it to chance.

Nachricht von Joe Hart:
WU on the roof was made ultra fun by all of you who turned up. A sudden change of heart from the weather helped cement it. Seeing two pairs of blokes pants drying on the fence took it to the next level for me.
Tomorrow will be shit, but on Friday one of my favourite WU DJs will be getting married to the exactly the right person, whom he loves dearly. Old school love, new age wedding.
Then it's this, where the vibes will be powerful with potentially toxic levels of love in the air.

After a few months on the run we've found a new home. Believe it or not, we're quite fussy when it comes to choosing places but this place ticks every box.
It's a bit bigger than the arch so no more 2 hour queues. It'll be a lot easier to get a drink and they'll be cold too. And we've upgraded to toilets with doors on.
Unchanged are;
DJs Andy Blake and Joe Hart
WU sound
WU security
WU Lights
WU Smoke
11-6am £10 £5 before 1am for card carrying members
The new place is in the Peckham/Bermondsey area. Easy to get to. Address will go out via email closer to the time. Make sure you've signed up to the list via...
