“Kan ni spela lite mindre mystisk?” (Can you please play less mysterious?) was a request by a Swedish girl during an Of Norway gig in Oslo. Most probably the answer to that polite question would have been a determined “No”. For it is precisely the inherent magic in the tracks of Vegard Wolf Dyvik aka Lil’Wolf and Chris Lynch that propels the duo’s musical work into a sphere of its own.
Their latest 12” release “Karpathian Thirst” is a convincing proof of the fact. The title alone evokes the mystical Of Norway aura. The track itself is an epic builder. Time is no longer of any importance, when listening to “Karpathian Thirst”. The beats elegantly sneak around you, setting a trap that’s impossible to escape, while the melody cautiously draws from early nineties rave enthusiasm.
“The Bleeding” shows the more laid back side of Of Norway. After three minutes the track almost grudgingly develops into a groove, that is pure elegance with chirping 303-sounds as an irresistible add-on.
The music of Of Norway is being released on labels like Connaisseur Darkroom Dubs, Dialect, and Afro Art. Of Norway already graced dj-sets from the likes of Hot Chip, Anja Schneider, X-Press 2, Timo Maas, Nick Warren, Slam, Gabriel Ananda, Ewan Pearson, Charles Webster, Phil Kieran, Laurent Garnier, Stacey Pullen and John Digweed.
Furthermore we proudly present the part 2/10 of our limited paper-cuts cover artwork series by the deceased rural teacher Erich Proksch. Again a breath-taking work, highly detailed and with a strong mysterious aura. As tailor-made for our Oslo-based act Of Norway.
