Zum Beginn der neuen Kooperation der Karlsruher Djs von Designmusic.de mit Purefuture.de und anlässlich des Geburtstages von Byoto-i heisst es am 14.Mai :
Chicago is in da House !

Janel ist eine der kommenden Djs aus Chicago und hat schon in allen bekannten Clubs ihrer Heimatstadt wie z.B. Smartbar, Red no 5, Vision, Big Wig oder Zentra gespielt. Zudem veröffentlicht Sie in Zusammenarbeit mit Demarkus Lewis in diesem Frühjahr ihre erste Platte auf Residual Rec.
Das besondere an Janel´s DJ-Sets ist neben ihrer exzellenten-Mixtechnik, dass Sie Live zu den deep / techy Housetunes singt!
Dies bekommt man nicht allzu oft zu hören und sogar King Britt war begeistert von ihrem Können:

The next wave of Chicago talent begins with this rising star. Janel Roland is making her presence strong in the Chicago House scene and beyond with her exceptional skills as a DJ and smooth vocal styling as a singer.
Born to a Korean mother and Caucasian father, Janel had a diverse cultural upbringing. Her passion for music goes back to her early childhood years of learning the piano, singing in the choir and playing the clarinet. Her talent continued to grow while she studied music intensely in school and through private classical training. She received many prestigious awards for her achievements in classical clarinet and voice.
After experiencing DJ culture in clubs and raves in Chicago and Saint Louis, Janel decided to express her creativity through the sounds of House music. While in college she took her vocal skills to the next level by gaining the ability to ad lib and scat sing in jazz voice. In 1999, she grew an interest in mixing and began to purchase records and learn mixing techniques. With a naturally gifted ear for music, Janel developed her skills as a DJ in a very short time.
Currently, Janel is focusing much of her creative energy in the studio as a vocalist and songwriter. She has worked with highly renowned producers such as Ron Carroll, The Blak Beat Niks, Mazi, Tim Schumaker, Kenny Carvajal, Slater Hogan, John Larner,Demarkus Lewis and Stax. She recently completed a project with Demarkus Lewis titled Dream To Me that has received DJ support from artists such as DJ Heather, Diz, The Inland Knights, Lady D, Titonton Duvante and Jamie Thinnes.
Janel has performed in many major clubs in Chicago such as Smartbar, Spybar, Red no 5, Vision, Big Wig, Zentra, Harrys Velvet Room and Superlounge. Her talents have taken her to perform in 16 cities, lncluding Seoul, South Korea. She will also be performing in Europe in 2004 with dates in Germany, Netherlands, and Belguim.
