V/A - Crumbed (Monoide Remixes)
Sometimes there is not enough time to eat all the crispy brown rolls in the morning and as we don't want to waste anything, we have to consider what to do with it. It’s up to the cook’s imagination to find a clever use for all the rests he finds in his kitchen. Maybe he wants to make a veal cutlet, so he has to crumb the roll with a grater to make a good ‘panade’. Or he decides to work up mincemeat to meatballs, so he has to soak and mix the roll afterwards. Two ways for a tasty utilisation of the remaining rolls: one to use its crispiness and the other to expand its inner softness.
Now, what's more suggesting itself is that Stadtgruen invites a couple of brilliant cooks for a remix competition of Monoide's five 'Crispy Brown Rolls'. In addition to the yet label-related artists like Marko Fuerstenberg, Yatsuo Motoki, Dataman, Gras and krill.minima, we proudly present Milos, Niemczyk, Aleks Svaensson, and Barbara Idijot as well as the baker himself.
They adjourned to their kitchens, took some unused and not yet expiring rolls, interspersed some other ingredients and spices, let it roast gently in hot oil and served their new dishes nicely arranged. Up to the temper of each cook this line-up of 'international cuisine' shows quite different flavours. According to the philosophy of our little restaurant, our guests may decide 'á la carte' which taste they prefer: the more urban and driven way of dining to be always on the jump - or a more calm and relaxed way to sit around the table.

sehr minimaler chordlastiger remix, bei längerem hören tendenziell etwas zu monoton

dataman ist zur zeit wirklich sehr acidoid, der schaffelbeat passt super dazu, eins meiner highlights auf diesem release
marko fuerstenberg mix
marko fuerstenberg im gewohnten techno-dub-stil, viel hall
Niemczyk's Overexpired Mix
rollende breakbeats treffen auf chords und flächen, dazu eine synthetisierte stimme, die imo nicht so sehr reinpasst
monostatic mix
ambientöse neufassung von monoide, gefällt mir besser als das original
aleks svanesson mix
groovend minimale interpretation, sehr schön, könnt nur noch etwas länger gehn
barbara idijot's termix
mein persönliches highlight auf dieser ep, jazzig clickend fiebender rhythmus und verrauschte chords, das ganze vollkommen verdaulich verpackt, schade dass die 3 minuten so schnell vorbei sind
lomix
verhallte athmosphärische version von lomov, lediglich die bassdrum wirkt mir lomov - untypisch - etwas zu brachial, aber vielleicht liegt das auch an meiner anlage

da lass ich mal euch drüber urteilen...
martin donath's placid unrest edit
knacksendes ambient erlebnis, die flächen sind einfach nur schön und der bach im hintergrund (den man eigentlich nicht bewusst raushört, wenn man nichts davon weiß) passt wundervoll dazu, athmosphäre = verlassenes industriegebiet dass von der natür zurückerobert wird.. kurz nach sonnenuntergang, für mich ebenfalls ein highlight der ep

ich nähere mich dem batzen mal häppchenweise.. ![[mjam]](graemlins/mjam.gif)
erste anlaufstelle war fast zwangsläufig der dataman-mix.. der auch erwartungsgemäß sehr fein ist, vor allem die elemente der art wie in "das kind und das pferd" gehen mir runter wie öl! nur die 1-taktige acidline gibt dem ganzen eine zäh-konventionelle note.

der Martin Donath-mix ist wunderbar spaceious, synapsen-schmeichelnd, -umspülend, wie ich das jetzt schon von einigen seiner tracks kenne..
oder auch von Pete Namlook at its best..
der Monostatic mix ist mir zu monochrom und uninspiriert. wie nicht recht gewusst, was man machen soll, aber mal gemacht und dem loop überlassen.
Barbara Idijot reisst kurz eine idee an und ist dann auch schon fertig - eher ein zwischenspiel denn ein eigener track.

zum vorabend des jahresendes.. sehr zu empfehlen: der Martin Donath-remix..
die zeit kurz einfrieren lassen und aus diesem kontinuum zurück- und nach vorne schauen.
