so i am going to write the rest in english..
hopefully you will forgive me
i'm going to germany in late june - early july with my boyfriend and hope to go to the love parade, record shopping, clubs, good events, etc.
we are long-time lovers of electronic music in pretty much every aspect.. dancing, throwing clubs/raves, writing for magazines, dj'ing, etc. i run a bunch of websites about the local electronic music scene (nwtekno.org, hyperreal.org/raves/nw), etc.
we've never been out of north america. i'm wondering if there are any people who'd be willing to host two random international travellers. we don't have much money but really want to see germany. we both love a lot of the music that comes from berlin, especially labels like kompakt, perlon and force tracks.
i work and go to college fulltime and will be 24 by the time we leave. dave is an artist and art teacher and will be 27. from what i can tell, everything in germany is pretty expensive, even youth hostels. so we're trying to find people who would let us sleep on their floor. in exchange we would cook, tell them stories of the electronic music scene here, give them cd's and tapes of music producers and djs from the states, and attempt to be as sweet and entertaining as possible.
we would also offer an exchange - if you wanted to come visit the states, you would be welcome to stay with us!
i have an online journal at http://www.livejournal.com/users/xaotica if you want to know more about me.
if you are interested please send us an email! kimberleyd@attbi.com
oh yeah btw. kompakt is a cologne based label, which is the area i now live in
write me email to nera_on_the_road@yahoo.de i check that one while i am away.
und an alle anderen... ich kenne kim sehr gut aus der zeit wo ich in seattle gewohnt habe. sie ist echt total cool und nett also helft ihr mit nem platz zum schlafen okay?
welcome to the technoforum, kim!
Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt...?
the only problem will be my bad bad english
we want to go everywhere! we want to start in amsterdam because it's cheaper to fly there, and then go to cologne & frankfurt & berlin, and around germany, and hopefully to prague if we have time...
my great-great-grandfather was german, and my last name is dietemann.. my mom had a penpal who said that there was a statue of a dietemann in a small town in germany.. so i want to find that
dubstar, we are trying to learn german before we go.. i don't want to be a tourist or someone who comes to another country and doesn't know anything about their culture or their language because i think it's rude.. although my german is so bad right now that it might be rude for me to say anything in it.. *laughing* but i'm trying to get better..
and yes we would want to go to dortmund!
I'm living about 10 minutes (by subway) from the center of town.

Hi,Groovinkim.
The small town you mentioned must be Eschwege
in the north of Hessen (near Kassel),which
is called "home of the Dietemans" ("Heimat
der Dietemänner").Its landmark is a figure
which is integrated in the clock of the
town's castle.
You'll find some pictures of it here:
